Stargate: Origins

Thanks to the folks over at EW, today we received a series of brand new photos from the latest series set in the ‘Stargate’ universe, ‘Stargate: Origins.’ In most of the photos, we get more of the backstory on Catherine Langford, the character who was spotted in Roland Emmerich’s original ‘Stargate’ movie as a young girl with her father Professor Langford, and what she manages to get into during her own story. The series, set to exclusively air on Stargate Command, a new digital streaming service for ‘Stargate’ fans that already allows users to watch all the episodes from ‘Stargate SG-1,’ ‘Stargate: Universe,’ ‘Stargate: Atlantis,’ the movie ‘Stargate’, ‘Stargate: The Ark of Truth,’ and ‘Stargate: Continuum,’ will premiere this Thursday and will feature 10 episodes.

As for the story itself, the show takes place in 1939, around 10 years after her father first discovered the Stargate in the Egyptian desert. The plot seems to revolve, as many films and shows in this era do, around Nazi’s, with this one, in particular, being driven by a Nazi occultist, Dr. Wilhem Brucke stirring up trouble for Catherine and her father (which, of course, will involve the Stargate) and Catherine will need to work alongside her new allies to save her father, and the world. Who are her allies? She is joined by Captain James Beal of the British army (played by Philip Alexander) and Wasif, James’s brother-in-arms (played by Shvan Aladdin).

The photos themselves tease a lot more than just the origins of Catherine though, as there is also a mysterious shot of a yellow-eyed alien that we have no information about just yet, and another shot of a man wielding a torch, looking very confused within a tomb or crypt, who we also do not know a lot about.
