By the end of next year, we’re going to see three new ‘Firefly‘ novels released that will further explore the adventures of the crew of the Serenity! The books come from a deal which was put together by Titan Books and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to give us new fiction which Joss Whedon is serving as a consulting editor on. Yes, that does mean that these books will all be considered canon! Nancy Holder, James Lovegrove, and Tim Lebbon are penning the stories which are set to flesh out more stories and each appears to have a focus on a specific character being the center of the narrative.
According to commissioning editor Cat Camacho:
“[I am] delighted to be bringing new, official stories to fans of a show that has continued to grow in popularity over the years, finding new audiences in an unprecedented way. Firefly is a hugely unique IP, and Titan Books is excited to be becoming part of its legacy.”
While we’ll likely never see the original actors ever portraying these characters again, it is exciting to see their story live on! As to what the three books will be about? We’ve got the names, brief teasers of descriptions, and months they are due out to share with you below!

This is a toss-up for me as to which novel will be more interesting. While I’m always curious about the story of how humanity got to the ‘Verse as well as more of River, everyone loves Reynolds and seeing Browncoats kidnapping him could be quite a fun read as well.
