Fans of the super natural Netflix hit ‘Stranger Things’ finally know how many episodes they will be binge watching when the third season becomes available!

The monster filled ’80s thriller will feature eight episodes in Season 3, and production is slated to begin in mid April. Not much else is known about the upcoming season, although series co-creators the Duffer Brothers did previously confirm that the action would jump ahead one year to 1985, when ‘Goonies’ and ‘Back to the Future’ were all the rage.

The brothers explained their reasoning behind the time gap, saying:

“Even if we wanted to hop into the action faster, we couldn’t. Our kids are aging. We can only write and produce the show so fast. They’re going to be almost a year older by the time we start shooting Season 3… [so] it forces you to do a time jump.”

Returning for Season 3 are series regulars Winona Ryder (Joyce), David Harbour (Jim), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Noah Schnapp (Will), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Cara Buono (Karen), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Joe Keery (Steve), Dacre Montgomery (Billy), and Sadie Sink (Max).

While the main cast members are returning for the new season, the creators promised they were ready to leave poor Will alone moving forward. Director Shawn Levy explained:

“We’re going to give Will a break. We’re not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row. He’ll be dealing with stuff, but he won’t be at rock bottom the way we forced the amazing Noah Schnapp to play.”

This would lead some fans to assume that another one of the young characters would become the target of the Upside Down, however, Levy says that is not the case:

“You might assume that. But you would probably end up being wrong. We’re [going to be] dealing with forces of evil that are new.”
