Star Wars

Thanks to a post from Lucasfilm Animation, it would appear that we might be in for a new animated ‘Star Wars’ sooner than later. ‘Star Wars Rebels‘ has entered the final season and is closing in on its end date which would make sense to see that the studio is looking towards the future. Only, this call for talent might mean that they’re already pretty far into pre-production.

Over on LinkedIn, the studio put out a call for “episodic directors” which you can read the details of below:

Lucasfilm Animation and creators of the Emmy award winning animation series
“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and the highly successful animation series
“Star Wars: Rebels” are looking for a versatile Production Coordinator to join their
production team.

While ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ helped to bridge the prequel films together and ‘Star Wars Revels’ took place between the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and ‘A New Hope,’ it will be interesting to see if this new animated series could take help fill in the gap between ‘Return of the Jedi’ and ‘The Force Awakens’. Anything from flushing out the story of this era to even briefly touching on the events from the various novels which not everyone has had a chance to read could be fair game.

The flip side to this is that the studio could just be looking for someone to help upcoming episodes of ‘LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures.’ There is no word as to it being renewed for a third season, but chances are that the show would continue for a bit longer.

Do you think that Lucasfilm Animation is gearing up for what comes next after the second half of the final season premieres on February 19th, 2018? What era do you feel a new animated series should put is in? Share your thoughts below!
