netflix marvel shows

Ever since the purchase of Fox by Disney and the push for Disney’s streaming service we’ve all been wondering what could happen to the Netflix shows and now Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley has shared some answers. It has always been unclear as to if Disney would try to fold the current shows into their new service, cancel them outright, or allow them to continue on unhindered. With ‘Daredevil‘, ‘Jessica Jones‘, ‘Luke Cage‘, ‘Iron Fist,’ ‘The Defenders‘, and now ‘The Punisher‘ on Netflix as well as Hulu’s ‘Runaways‘ there is a slew of shows which Disney could have been eyeing to snatch up.

Thankfully, it doesn’t sound as if they’ll be annoying their fans by forcing them to switch streaming services or add another into the mix to continue watching these shows. “We obviously want the Marvel Television series currently on Netflix to have a long and lauded run,” Buckley stated. He did add that that new projects, would seek out “networks and platforms that are the best fit for that content, including the Disney-branded streaming service.”

It sounds like the current runs are all going to be safe where they are while in production. However, Buckley clearly leaves the door open for more shows to even be launched on these services, it sounds as if that would only happen for anything that Disney doesn’t wish to develop themselves.

This is great news for Netflix and Hulu Marvel fans who didn’t want to lose their shows if they couldn’t afford or didn’t want to add another streaming service into their lives. With Disney currently having their own content, Marvel’s, Pixar’s, everything Star Wars, and soon everything from Fox, it won’t be lacking for a way to draw viewers in.
