While we don’t know much about the upcoming third film in the ‘Cloverfield’ franchise, star Daniel Bruhl (‘Captain America: Civil War’,’Inglourious Basterds’) has just shared a few hints as to what we can expect. We’ve known that it would be set in the future and space, but beyond that, it is still very much a mystery. It also sounds like Abrams still love to keep things coming out of Bad Robot close to its vest!
While Bruhl really didn’t give concrete plot points, what can be expected from his character can be surmised by the way he researched his role in the film:
“I went to UCLA and I met some very brilliant students and scientists there. It was only 2% of the information that I was given by them that I remotely understood. It’s based on many interesting ideas about a near future scenario, which is an interesting vision of what could happen or what might happen with the Earth. I’m bit scared to talk about it because it’s so extremely secretive. I’m afraid of ending up in a Bad Robot prison.”
While he didn’t know much about living in space before the film, he did know about the first two ‘Cloverfield’ movies:
“Yeah. I was aware of the movies and wanted to enter that universe that they created. J.J. Abrams is such a mastermind in that genre. It was very attractive to work with all of these wonderful actors. I’ve always wanted to do a space movie, so I couldn’t wait to end up floating in space and solving huge problems.”
Still not a lot in the way of information but we did learn that it is a “near future scenario” so it won’t be set that far into the future.
Are you looking forward to the third ‘Cloverfield’ movie? What are your thoughts on it being set in the future and space? Will it directly address the alien invasion which seems set more in modern times? Share your thoughts below!
