If you haven’t picked up a ‘Doctor Who’ Season 10 Blu-ray yet, you can thank BBC America for uploading deleted scenes from the series onto YouTube! BBC posted 13 glorious minutes of deleted scenes for Whovians all over the world to watch and enjoy.
Some of the featured scenes are actual cuts made from the finished episodes, while others are more like “extended scenes”—longer versions of what initially aired.
Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi and longtime showrunner Steven Moffat made their final exit from the show during the Christmas special ‘Twice Upon a Time,’ thus making way for Jodie Whittaker to take her historic turn as the very first Time Lord Lady incarnate. Whittaker, who will be joined by new companions Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill, and Tosin Cole, will make her proper debut this fall, led by executive producer and head writer Chris Chibnall.
Whittaker has already made history by being the first female actor to play the lead in ‘Doctor Who,’ but the actress revealed that the role did not come easily. Speaking in a recent interview, Whittaker revealed she had to go through “months” of auditions before landing the highly coveted part.
Whittaker explained that her debut scene “wasn’t the first time Chris had seen me play the Doctor.” She said:
“I mean, it was the first time he’d seen me as the Doctor in costume, on the set, but we’d rehearsed, and before that I’d been through a few months of auditions. So Chris’s main note was to trust my instincts – ‘they’ve been right so far, and they’ve got you here today. Just remember that’. I think the announcement happened so they could get me to the TARDIS set to do the regen without it being leaked. If I’d been seen in Cardiff, being taken to Roath Lock, it would have been very obvious that I was playing the part! So they announced it the day before.”
