We haven’t heard much recently about the live-action ‘Jetsons’ reboot but President of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey recently was able to share an update on the show! Robert Zemeckis (‘Back to the Future’,’Contact’) is on board as the Executive Producer and has it set to be filmed in front a live studio audience. Not a lot of details have been known so far outside of the fact that this sitcom is going to be based on the animated series and that there are some plans to include visual effects to give it a futuristic look which will be interesting if it is shot live.

The details were revealed after Dungey’s Television Critics Association executive session where she revealed:

“That is what I’m really looking forward to hearing. The team has already had a number of conversations with Zemeckis and the rest of the group. They have some really good ideas about how they want to pull that off. I have not yet been part of those conversations because I haven’t seen the script yet. They don’t want to tell me how that works until I’ve read the pages. While the main cast shouldn’t be too difficult in this way of filming, it’ll be interesting to see how they pull off the pets. Rosie is just an android and we could easily see a costume made to tackle bringing her to the small screen but Astro is a dog which can speak limited English and Orbitty was a small alien that had springy legs. Animitronics could possibly cover these two which seems to go against how most science fiction shows would handle either these days but might be a welcome addition for audiences.

Hopefully, she doesn’t end up like the Rosie spoof on ‘Futurama’ which stated “Everything must be clean. Very clean. That’s why the dog had to die. He was a dirty dog. Also that boy Elroy. Dirty. Dirty.” Though, that could bring an entirely different twist to the series!

Are you looking forward to a live-action take on the ‘Jetsons’? How do you think they’ll deal with Rosie and the other family pets? Share your thoughts below!
