It looks like the writers at Marvel loved Taika Waititi’s take on Valkyrie in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ as much as we did!  Saladin Ahmed and Javier Rodriguez were looking for one last member to add into their take on the upcoming ‘Exiles‘! comic and this Asgardian is who ended up making the cut. We couldn’t be more thrilled! There are a lot of interesting things coming together with this series as the new Exiles are being put together by the Unseen himself! That’s right folks!  The man once known as Nick Fury is back and it appears that his idea of throwing Blink, Iron Lad, Wolvie, and Khan together with this take on Valkyrie is exactly what the 616-Universe needs to be protected “from an all-encompassing threat.”

More like needed to protect us from how adorable Wolvie is. I mean, if he’s the best at what he does, it has to be by making people say “awwww” while he slashes at them with his mini-claws!

At any rate, according to Ahmed:

“Valkyrie’s a character who’s always appealed to me. Her iconic warrior-woman look—spear! sword! flying horse!—but also the juxtaposition of a kickass ancient fantasy hero operating in contemporary New York City. She’s a classic Marvel heroine. But the EXILES version of Valkyrie is a bit different from what we’ve seen in comics thus far. Our Valkyrie is known as the Lone Defender of Asgard, and she’s a tankard-draining, maiden-wooing, giant-slaying thunderbolt of a woman. Though she’s not technically from the Marvel Cinematic Universe reality, she’s basically the literalization of the larger-than-her-physical-frame swagger that Tessa Thompson displayed in ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ turned up to 11.”

I don’t know if I’m more excited to see that this take on Valkyrie will be making her way into the 616-Universe or if we’re finally getting an idea of what Nick Fury has been up to. I suppose it is a little of both to be perfectly honest!

If you’re wondering what this version of Valkyrie will look like, Rodriguez has shared this piece of character art:

Are you looking forward to the cinematic take on Valkyrie to grace the printed page? Do you think that if she is “turned up to 11” that it could take away or expand on what we ended up seeing in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’? Share your thoughts below True Believers!

‘Exiles’ #1 will be flying into your local comic shop on April 11th, 2018!
