Rosario Dawson Claire Temple

For the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Claire Temple is basically the Nick Fury, in that she has been the sole connecting character that has appeared in every series and tied it all together, and was mostly responsible for being the final push to get the last members of the Defenders to meet each other. So for anyone else, who, like me, was a little bit disappointed to not see Rosario Dawson’s MCU character appear in ‘The Punisher,’ (thus making that series the ONLY Marvel/ Netflix show not to feature her), have no fear, that apparently was an isolated incident.’Punisher’ was a different kind of show that Marvel deliberately wanted to keep separate from their ‘Defenders’ series, which I suppose meant keeping Claire away, as her ties to all of the Defenders, especially her current boyfriend Luke Cage, would have made it hard to figure out why she would not have called one of the heroes for help if she were in ‘Punisher’ and ran into any kind of trouble with Frank Castle.

The good news for the future is that with both ‘Iron Fist’ Season 2 and ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 both currently shooting in New York City, Rosario Dawson has been confirmed to be a part of both new seasons, a report that comes to us by way of Discussing Film. Which of course makes sense, as of all the Defenders Matt Murdock is the most vulnerable (since he has no super strength or invulnerability), and since he was thought dead by everyone at the end of ‘The Defenders,’ there’s a chance he may need Claire’s medical expertise pretty early on during ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 (but then again, he is in the care of those nuns…). As for ‘Iron Fist,’ we know that Claire and Colleen Wing have struck up a pretty good friendship, especially as Claire is learning to be a capable fighter herself, so it also makes sense to see her around for that series, though I wonder if she will be as heavily involved as she was for ‘Iron Fist’ Season 1.

What are your thoughts on Claire Temple, aka the Night Nurse, continuing to be an integral part of the Netflix MCU? Do you wish she had been in ‘Punisher’ as well? Are you waiting to see what happens to her when/if Luke breaks up with her to get with Jessica Jones (his wife in the comics?) Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
