sta wars: return of the jedi

We never got to see Luke Skywalker say farewell to his friend Han Solo in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ but it looks as if the cut footage from ‘Star Wars: Return of the Jedi’ had a more touching scene of the two parting ways. The dialogue itself is almost the same as was heard in the movie but actually seeing the two interact takes it to an entirely different level, especially after they never got to have an actual goodbye.

The scene in question takes place on Tatooine after Han is rescued but seeing Han having to face Luke, the once innocent farmboy who so heroicly saved his life seems to put things into an entirely different perspective. Seeing this on Harrison Ford’s face really gives it even more of an impact.

Another very important feature here is something that resonates after having seen ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘ where we see Luke building his lightsaber which has a very surreal feeling with how personal these lightsabers are and what we know happens to Luke’s.

Oh, and there is some new shots of Darth Vader to kick things off.

You can check out nearly 10-minutes of scenes cut from the film below!

There are a slew of moments throughout the film here. From Endor to the Death Star and beyond, it seems like something which you’d want to see in a director’s cut. Not, you know, CGI’d characters and fight scenes. With George Lucas no longer in charge of the future of ‘Star Wars’ (I’ll get over that), you really need to watch the video above for a few scenes which we all probably would have enjoyed being included in the movie!
