While we STILL have yet to see a teaser, a trailer, or really any new information from ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story,’ there is a new hope on the horizon. Apparently, the newest issue of Empire magazine gets into the nitty gritty of the next ‘Star Wars’ film, and one intrepid fan managed to find a copy already and post a page online, revealing some information for fans desperate for news about the Han Solo movie.
So here’s what they gathered from Empire, first off, apparently this is going to be “a different Solo’ than what we have seen in the other movies. One quote from screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan states:
“You have to imagine him in his early twenties…What was he like before he hardened up? Before he pot on this cynical coat? What got him there?”
It also talks about his past “training,” alluding to the old Legends stories of Han having studied at the Imperial Academy at Carida, where he was kicked out for rescuing Chewie, thus forming the great friendship of his life. While all the details are likely to change for the canon films, something like this is sure to happen in the film as well. Plus, they continue to hint at the inclusion of the Spice Mines of Kessel that Ron Howard himself teased a few months ago with his Tweet of a mine shaft and the caption “Spicey,” alluding to Han’s time as a smuggler of galactic “spice” and the legendary “Kessel Run” he speaks about during ‘A New Hope.’
Lastly, for his vehicle of choice, it seems the Falcon will play heavily, though it will be painted with the blue accents seen briefly in ‘Revenge of the Sith,’ and most likely we will see the origins of the golden dice that featured so prominently in ‘The Last Jedi, and perhaps see the famed game of chance where Han actually won the ship from Lando Calrissian.
With any luck, we will get more info from this trailer which is supposed to be coming out soon, but until then, feel free to share any thoughts or theories of your own in the comments below!
