It was a bit of a shock when in September a theatrical film version of the Cartoon Network’s hit series ‘Teen Titans GO!’ was announced as coming to theaters in less than a year, in July, when there hadn’t been a peep about this movie even being made before.

Well, time flies and with the movie hitting theaters in seven months, more information is surfacing, including its official synopsis:

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies—
everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the
situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood
film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans
head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected
by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry.
The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!

‘Teen Titans GO! To The Movies’ features the voices of Will Arnett and Kristen Bell, but their roles haven’t been revealed.  Arnett, of course, voiced Batman in ‘The LEGO Movie’ and ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’.  Could he be reprising his role as Robin’s mentor here?  (Arnett is also serving as a producer on the film.)  Bell, of course, is voice acting royalty, having portrayed Anna in ‘Frozen’.  She also voiced another Disney character, Priscilla in ‘Zootopia’.

The cast of the regular TV series– Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Scott Menville as Robin, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven, and Hyden Walch as Starfire– returns for the film.  Series directors Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail tackle the film, based on a script by Horvath and Michael Jelenic.

‘Teen Titans GO! To The Movies’ will be released on July 27, 2018.
