doctor who twice upon a time

Each day brings us closer to Christmas, and along with it, the last episode of ‘Doctor Who’ with Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor. The new trailer featuring Capaldi’s Doctor Who finale might give more details than you’d expect about what’s in store for not one Doctor, but two.

Although short, the trailer really packs in the action with shots of creepy glass monsters, jokes about the sonic sunglasses (they work indoors, in case you were wondering), and yes, the Twelfth Doctor working with his former self, with the First Doctor being played by David Bradley. The trailer ends with what is seemingly a first look at the Twelfth Doctor’s explosive regeneration.

Unlike the regeneration from Eleventh-to-Twelve, this one looks particularly dramatic, with the TARDIS on fire (which probably means a new interior is on the way for Jodie Whittaker to go with that fancy new TARDIS exterior), and spurts of regeneration energy everywhere. It is surprising that the trailer would show off such a big moment, especially when the series historically keeps the details about regeneration sequences under wraps.

This could be just one last Steven Moffat twist where not all is what it seems to be. Perhaps Moffat is leaving fans with one last bait and switch before he makes his exit from the show as well.

‘Doctor Who: Twice Upon a Time’ airs Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC America. Check out the trailer below!

The magical final chapter of the Twelfth Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) journey sees the Time Lord team up with his former self, the first ever Doctor (David Bradley – Harry Potter, Game of Thrones) and a returning Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), for one last adventure. Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story. An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity’s darkest hours, Twice Upon A Time marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning
