Just ahead of ‘The Walking Dead’s’ midseason 8 finale, AMC has released a huge batch of photos from the episode directed by Greg Nicotero.
Set to air on Sunday night, the episode will run for an extended 90-minutes, rather than the standard one-hour run time. The episode, titled, ‘How It’s Gotta Be,’ has a synopsis that reads:
“Every story and battle from the first half of the season comes crashing together in this action-packed, emotional Mid-Season finale.”
The photos, which you can check out below, show a handful of characters in and around Alexandria at night. The photos show Daryl Dixon who has seemingly made it back to Alexandria unscathed after plunging a garbage truck into the Sanctuary. Also featured are Rick and Carl on a mission together, with Carl mirroring Rick’s appearance in the show’s first episode: wearing a sheriff’s hat and carrying a gas can. This serves as at least the second time this season Carl has directly mirrored Rick’s early appearance in the series.
Of the photos taken by ‘The Walking Dead’s’ on set photographer Gene Page, the most heavily featured character is Chandler Riggs’ Carl Grimes. With an end seemingly in sight to the war between Rick and Negan, many fans suspect a character such as Carl might not make it out of the finale alive.
‘Walking Dead’ after show ‘Talking Dead’ host Chris Hardwick gave a statement about the episode, saying:
“I asked the producers, ‘If we tell people it’s going to be shocking, is it really going to be shocking?’ They said, ‘Yeah, it’s really shocking,’ so you can trust me on that.”
Hardwick then went on to reiterate the episode “will feature a shocking moment that everyone will be talking about next week.”
The most eagled eyed among you are probably already searching these images for clues!
‘The Walking Dead’ airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on AMC.
