While stumbling at the box office, “The Mortal Instruments” is one of the most well-known YA series out there and now author Cassandra Clare has something new up her sleeve! Thanks to Del Rey Books, she has a new adult high fantasy series in the works and will have “criminals, princes, magicians, and warriors” which she has been building in her head for years.

The first novel will be titled ‘Sword Catcher’ and while there is no release date at this time, we suspect it will be after ‘Queen of Air and Darkness’ is set to drop at the end of 2018. Sorry folks, you’ll probably have to wait until at least 2019 for this one to come out.

She doesn’t share too many details as of yet but did say that it will be “the tale of a young man raised to be the body double for an unworthy prince, a young woman destined to change the world, and a host of other characters I cannot wait for you to meet.”

According to Clare:

“Many of my readers have been with me for years, and have grown along with my characters. And over those years, readers of all ages have come to me both to say that they would like to read books about older characters, and also to say that they’d love to see me build my own new world from the ground up.”

This will be the first novel since ‘City of Bones’ was published in 2007 which won’t be set in her ‘Mortal Instruments’ series. Fans of high fantasy should be thrilled to hear that she also has Anne Groell editing who has worked with fan favorites such as Naomi Novik and George R. R. Martin.
