fantastic beasts Crimes Of Grindelwald

It has been a good week to be a Potterhead! Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the title and release date for the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ sequel: ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.’ The second film in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise will be released on November 16, 2018! Now, we have pictures and character breakdowns for the stars of the upcoming film!

Jude Law as young Albus Dumbledore

Dumbledore looks handsome in his prime and is rocking royal blue corduroy and what we assume is his never-before-seen original wand. Fans know that Albus will enlist his former student Newt Scamander to help him take down the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald as war threatens to break out among muggles and the wizarding world alike.

Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald

Though his casting has caused some controversy, Depp could be the perfect choice to play the most notorious wizard of all time (at least, until Voldemort came along). He was revealed at the end of the first film after being captured by American wizards. Grindelwald is Dumbledore’s former close friend and escapes custody at the start of the new film. He plans to start gathering pure-blood followers and is plotting to conquer mankind. Notice he’s carrying the legendary Elder Wand, which was in Grindelwald’s possession until his legendary duel with Dumbledore in 1945.

Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange; Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander

These two newcomers to the film franchise look they might cause some trouble. Kravitz is Leta Lestrange, who was once a close friend of Newt’s (everybody assumes she is somehow related to Bellatrix Lestrange from the Harry Potter tales). Now she’s engaged to Newt’s celebrated brother, Theseus, who’s a war hero and the Head of the Auror Office at the British Ministry of Magic.

Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone; Claudia Kim as Maledictus

Troubled Credence is now confirmed to return, but with a more stylish costume! All we know so far about Maledictus is she’s the carrier of a blood curse that destines her ultimately to transform into a beast. Sounds dramatic!

Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski; Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein

Be still my heart! Jacob is back! How this adorable couple will fit into the new storyline remains to be seen.

Katherine Waterston as Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein; Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander

The dynamic duo look pretty much the same as in the first film. It has been stated that Newt has now gained fame in the wizarding world as the author of his beast guidebook, and Tina has been reinstated as an Auror for MACUSA.

Stay tuned for more details on the sequel as they become available!
