Stop everything because the official Twitter account for ‘Doctor Who’ just released a clip for the upcoming Christmas special!
A new clip from ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas special ‘Twice Upon a Time’ was unveiled during the Children in Need broadcast, granting a rare sneak peek at one of the most eagerly-anticipated episodes of the long running sci-fi series.
Fans hoping for an early glimpse of Jodie Whittaker’s new Doctor may be disappointed, as the clip comes from earlier in the episode and features Peter Capaldi’s outgoing Twelfth Doctor welcoming his former self the First Doctor (David Bradley) and a World War One soldier known as the Captain (Mark Gatiss) onboard his Tardis, which is hideous, according to Bradley.
The new footage is sure to appease fans and hold them over until the special premiers, even if it leaves certain questions unanswered, such as how series companion Bill (Pearl Mackie, who doesn’t appear in the clip) returns to the Doctor’s side or even what dastardly foes the two Doctors may be facing in their final adventure.
But, as always, it’s probably good that fans are being kept in the dark about a few of the things the special has in store for the Doctor and friends this Christmas. What fun would it be if you knew what was waiting under the tree before you opened it, you know?
‘Twice Upon a Time’ is set to be one hour long, in contrast to the usual ‘Doctor Who’ run-time of 45 minutes per episode. However, this is continues the theme of ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas specials past, which have been an hour long since 2005’s ‘The Christmas Invasion.’ ‘Doctor Who’ returns to the BBC this Christmas.
