Will Lena Luthor meet the Legion of Super Heroes?  It seems inevitable according to Katie McGrath, who plays the half-sister of Superman’s greatest foe.

Ever since Mon-El (Chris Wood) was introduced on the show, fans have wondered whether or not his arrival heralded the coming of the huge team of young super beings from the future.  Series star Melissa Benoist recently asked reporters if they were really surprised that the Legion would appear, indicating that this is no secret.  In addition to Mon-El, it was recently announced that Bollywood star Amy Jackson had been cast as Saturn Girl with Jesse Rath portraying Brainiac 5, the descendant of Superman’s computerized enemy Brainiac.  (Laura Vandervoort portrayed a version of Brainiac in Season One, as Indigo.)

McGrath doesn’t seem to know for certain what role her character will play in the upcoming storyline, but she hinted that the Legion’s involvement would be so “massive” that they would have to encounter Lena at some point.

“It’s such a massive part of a season 3, I would imagine that yes, she will be.  We’ve only just gotten the scripts where they come in so we don’t quite know how they’re going to interact with all of the characters because they’ve only just arrived. But I can’t imagine that it’s not going to have an effect on her. For a start, Kara is her best friend and the love of Kara’s life has just come back. So that is going to impact on everyone, I think.”

Mon-El mysteriously vanished at the end of Season Two, but looks to return in next week episode ‘Wake Up’ and these teaser images further the notion that the Legion will play a role.

It appears that the Legion plays a part in saving Mon-El, just as they did in the comics, when Mon-El discovered he was vulnerable to lead.

That makes it logical that Brainiac 5 would be among the heroes featured on the show as it will likely require his 12th-level intellect to concoct a cure.

So far, it hasn’t been revealed which other Legionnaires will appear besides Saturn Girl and Brainiac 5, but there are literally dozens of others to choose from.

The Legion appeared in one episode of ‘Smallville’ and also briefly headlined their own Saturday morning cartoon on FOX.

Are you excited to see these futuristic champions in live action on ‘Supergirl’?
