Fox, the studio not Mulder, has shared a new poster and premiere date for the eleventh season of ‘The X-Files‘! The poster promises that “The Truth Is Closer Than Ever” though I’m not sure what could possibly be revealed that is shocking this time around. As we already knew that they were planning a 2018 mid-season return this isn’t too surprising that the upcoming 10-episode season will be launching in January. Specifically, you’ll want to make some time on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 at 8/7c to see the return of Mulder and possibly Scully.
While Scully was in the process of being abducted as the 10th event-series mini-season came to a close we know that won’t last long as part of this season will follow the importance of her and Mulder’s son William.
The series had previously shown that she gave him up for adoption shortly after his birth and now they’ll be having a family reunion that we’ve previously heard creator Chris Carter say:
“We explore that father-son-mother relationship, and you’ll see more of William than you’ve seen in a long time.”
While there are only two mythology episodes, there are also eight standalone ones and in them some of the plots will feature the supposedly deceased Lone Gunman Langley who was dead but we’ve already seen one fun way the series has gotten around that, more details on Skinner’s youth and what put him on the path to be who he is, new details on the Cigarette Smoking Man, and a slew of other details. There hasn’t been much word as to what the monster of the week could be in the standalone episodes or how willing Mulder and Scully would want to be investigating them with the conspiracy ramping up and their son’s life potentially being on the line.
Are you looking forward to the return of ‘The X-Files’? Do you feel that the mythology to standalone episode count makes sense? If you were Mulder or Scully would you be open to chasing down these other cases with everything else going on? Share your thoughts below!
