Punisher

Despite the events in Las Vegas delaying the release of ‘The Punisher’ to its new date of November 17, 2017, as well as cancelling ‘The Punisher’ panel at New York Comic Con, Marvel claims that the series itself has not been altered due to the tragic events that took place. The cancellation of the NYCC event was discussed during a recent conversation Marvel Television President Jeph Loeb had with Inverse, while also discussing why they felt the content of the series did not need to change to reflect what had happened.

In Loeb’s words:

“This was a decision that we made specifically because it was a week after a horrible, horrible incident. It hasn’t changed the television series, the show is not predominantly about gun violence, and in fact it shows you the problems that occur in that world. But, to introduce that as close to what had happened…We made a very hard choice with Netflix, and our hearts still go out to the people of Las Vegas and the people around the world who still deal with that senseless violence.”

In preparation for that new release date, Marvel/ Netflix is back on the promotional game, this time releasing a slew of new images from the series, showing a number of characters/ images from the upcoming series that tease the plot of ‘The Punisher.’ First up we have a shot of Frank Castle wearing a mask while out doing his vigilante business, next we have him sitting with Karen Page (from ‘Daredevil’) while sporting a full beard that we have not seen before. Next is a shot of Frank and Micro on what appears to be a stake-out, no doubt doing recon on one of their targets as they prepare to go after some government agent involved in the conspiracy they are trying to investigate. And lastly, a shot of villain Rawlins, Frank’s former commanding officer and the man behind the downfall of Castle, who many are surmising may be combined with Marvel villain Jigsaw due to the similar facial disfigurements.

Make sure to check out all the images for yourself, and share your thoughts/ theories on what they might mean for the series in the comments below!

‘The Punisher’ premieres Friday, November 17, on Netflix.
