Earlier this week ‘Arrow’ released a clip from this week’s upcoming episode ‘Tribute’ that really got the fans excited as he got to mention a name that the show has danced around for some time now, of a character that the Oliver Queen of ‘Arrow’ has borrowed heavily from. Here’s the full quote from the clip:

“Photos can be doctored. They could have put Bruce Wayne’s head on that body…Has Bruce Wayne left Gotham to hang out in Star City recently? No!”

Very soon afterwards, the ‘Gotham’ Twitter account replied with the following response, demonstrating the playfulness between the two DC shows:

Amell later discussed the name-drop, calling it the “coolest” reference yet on ‘Arrow.’ Full quote below:

“I come in and talk with the reporters, and one of the things that I’m enjoying doing as mayor this year, and Oliver as a character to a certain extent, is I’ve tried to up the charm factor a little bit…He should be a little more comfortable in his shoes as a public figure. He steps in and deals with the press in a very, very relaxed way. Quentin says to him, ‘You seem pretty good with this,’ and Oliver’s like, ‘I’ve been here before.’ In that scene, we get to do the coolest name drop that we’ve ever done on the show, which I was really fired up about.”

While we as fans know that ‘Gotham’ and the DC shows on the CW will likely never cross-over, it is amazing to finally see ‘Arrow’ acknowledge the existence of both Gotham City and Bruce Wayne, and MAYBE open the door for the CW version of Batman to make an appearance. After all, we never thought we would see Superman on the network, and last season it finally happened over on ‘Supergirl,’ and with all of the Batman villains appearing on ‘Arrow’ already, it would not be that hard to write a story that would draw the Dark Knight over to Star City for an adventure with Oliver and Company. If only Warner Bros/ DC lets them do it…

What did you think of the big name drop? Could this be a sign of big things to come? Or was it just a cool moment for ‘Arrow?’ Share your thoughts in the comments below!
