After what seemed like years and years of hold ups, including a change in directors, ‘Ant-Man’ finally made it onto the big screen in 2015. The successful film managed to fill in some gaps in the history of the MCU, showed Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne in action, introduced their daughter Hope and gifted us Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, one of the most charming and relatable superheroes to date. Now, filming is underway on Peyton Reed’s sequel, ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp,’ and until now, fans have only been given sneak peeks of what’s to come.
New details about the plot of the film have been released, and seem to line up with what we’ve seen in set photos, as well as where the last film left off. The sequel will allegedly take place over a relatively short period of time and the leads will begin the film in very different scenarios.
Set photos of Rudd have fans curious about the timeline of the film; given Lang’s role in the events in Germany, his incarceration in the Raft and subsequent breakout, fans have wondered how he’s operating in public during ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp.’ It is rumored that the sequel will take place after Lang’s escape from prison, with Lang finding himself on house arrest at the beginning of the film.
While Lang gets used to his new life without the ‘Ant-Man’ suit, Hank and Hope are hard at work trying to find a way to bring Jan back from the Quantum Realm. You may remember the tragic story of her getting lost in the abyss from the first film. The dynamic duo are using Pym Particles to keep their lab small and mobile because they will allegedly spend a good deal of the film on the run, with all types of unsavory characters after them.
Set photos have revealed that Lang will ultimately re-team with Hope and that, at some point, Hank will become suited up in FBI gear, so there are certainly many gaps to fill between the beginning of the film and where these set photos pick up.
While not much else is known about the plot for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp,’ fans can keep themselves entertained with the set photos that have been released, and of course, coming up with their own theories about the upcoming film!
Don’t miss ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ when it flies into theaters July 6, 2018!
