We’ve learned that there is a chance that Robert Patrick will be reprising his role as Agent Doggett in the eleventh season of ‘The X-Files‘. The star who played Agent John Doggett who was half of the team which replaced Agents Mulder and Scully for the eighth and ninth seasons of the series might be making a comeback! In fact, a full episode with the star was slated but due to scheduling issues, they just weren’t able to make it happen. As we’ve already seen Annabeth Gish reprising her role as Monica Reyes and was working with the Cigarette Smoking Man, it would only make sense to find a way to bring him back as well.

We’ve learned that her working for everyone’s favorite villain will be shown “in an interesting way” and hopefully it will pave a way for Doggett’s return in some form or another.

According to Chris Carter when talking about his appearance:

“I actually wrote him into an episode, but then I found out he wasn’t going to be available to us [because of Scorpion] so I had to write him out of the episode… Scorpion is his first priority.”

That isn’t to say he won’t appear in the upcoming season at all as Carter also followed that up with “that’s not to say you won’t see him this season…” I’m expecting possibly a photograph or tease of his return and hopefully, if they do want to bring him back they can have him do some filming on both show’s offseasons to bring him back. There is always the chance that they were able to record a remote video chat to stick into an episode though I wouldn’t count on that happening.

Would you be happy to see Agent Doggett return to ‘The X-Files’ or would you prefer we have fewer reminders of seasons 8 and 9 of the series? Share your thoughts below!
