‘Stargate Origins’ is going back in time, and Australian actress Ellie Gall (from Lifetime’s ‘A Midsummer’s Nightmare’) will star in the digital series as the younger version of fan favorite Catherine Langford.
The show, which will air exclusively on the digital platform Stargate Command later this year, follows young Catherine (played originally by Elizabeth Hoffman) as she embarks on an astonishing adventure to unlock the mystery of what is outside of the Stargate in order to save Earth from unthinkable peril. ‘Stargate Atlantis’ cast member Connor Trinneer will portray the role of Catherine’s father, Professor Langford.
The Langfords played a key role in the mythology behind the ‘Stargate’ universe, as both characters were heavily involved in the beginnings of the Stargate program. Professor Langford was the archaeologist who first discovered the Stargate in Egypt in 1928, with Catherine by his side. Decades later, she hired Daniel Jackson (played by Michael Shanks) to unearth the true purpose of the Stargate.
Stargate Command has also announced the full cast of the series, which includes actors Salome Azizi, Philip Alexander, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Daniel Rashid, Sarah Navratil, Shvan Aladdin, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Derek Chariton, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe.
MGM’s Digital Group and entertainment studio New Form produced the 10 episode series. Each episode will last 10 minutes and will be directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan and written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry.
Gall’s TV credits include the Australian programs ‘Blind,’ ‘Home,’ ‘Away,’ and ‘Mind Over Matter’. The actress is also set to appear in the upcoming season of Starz’s ‘Ash vs Evil Dead.’
