neil gaiman a study in emeraldNeil Gaiman‘s work has been hotter than ever and Dark Horse is continuing their tradition of publishing his comics by announcing ‘A Study in Emerald’! The news comes just before this year’s New York Comic Con so I would suspect that we’re going to be getting more details in the next week. It seems that the famed author clearly has been enjoying their collaboration on ‘American Gods‘ to be giving us another title so soon and this one sounds like another must read!

Dark Horse has put together an all-star team to work with Gaiman. On co-writing duties will be Rafael Scavone who made a name for himself working on ‘Wonder Woman’ and co-founded Stout Club publishing. On art, we’ll see the illustrations tackled by Eisner winning artist Rafael Albuquerque (‘American Vampire’). Finishing things up will be Dave Stewart who is the colorist on ‘Hellboy’, so I suspect we’ll have some amazing tones gracing Albuquerque’s artwork.

The story itself is from the ‘Fragile Things’ collection which was also previously turned into a board game. Dark Horse shares that the work will be about “a supernatural mystery set in the world of Sherlock Holmes and H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. The heart-pounding tale features the brilliant detective and his faithful partner as they attempt to solve a horrific murder of cosmic proportions. The complex investigation takes the Baker Street investigators from the slums of Whitechapel all the way to the Queen’s Palace.”

Color me intrigued! My only complaint is that we’ll be waiting until summer of 2018 to be able to get our eyes on this one.

Are you looking forward to a comic take on ‘A Study in Emerald’? Do you think that it will remain faithful to the source material or will it be a new take on it? Share your thoughts below!
