mark hamill star wars: the last jedi

Fans of ‘Star Wars‘ are dying for the next ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘ trailer to get a hint at what the film is about and now they know when to expect it. The announcement came directly from Luke Skywalker himself as Mark Hamill has clearly turned to the dark side to tease us that a trailer is coming… in October.

It’s going to be a long wait for the next peek at ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ to drop, but as Hamill has only been “adhering to incredibly strict and sometimes insane levels of studio-enforced secrecy” for about four years it was a surprise that he would let this news slip apparently without LucasFilm‘s blessing.

The tweet has since been deleted, but you can see a screenshot below of what happened when a fan asked about when we could expect the upcoming trailer as Hamill had responded that we should “Watch Monday Night Football on Monday, October 9th – for no reason in particular.”

As the first full trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ dropped during Monday Night Football in October 2015, this isn’t all that surprising. The film is set to be released on December 15th, 2017, so it is almost time for this blockbuster’s advertising to kick into high gear. The timing of a trailer release makes sense.

Of course, after deleting the tweet Hamill went back to being vague about a release date:

With how secretive Disney makes Marvel Films and LucasFilms cast and crew be, this shouldn’t be a surprise that Skywalker would have to bow to his real masters. Even though the actor has been “pleasing fans with his mere appearance,” if he keeps this up we might see Luke Skywalker back in a self-imposed exile for another 40 years.

Are you going to be watching the game for its commercials on October 9th?
