star trek: discovery

Sonequa Martin-Green has been making the rounds promoting ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ and a new segment on ‘CBS This Morning’ had her showing off two new clips from the series as well! This comes just after an outing on ‘Late Night With Stephen Colbert’ and has her going more in-depth of what to expect when the series premieres. In fact, the new teasers expand on the what we had seen in the first trailer.

Outside of the clip, Martin-Green talked more about her character. From her character “Michael Burnham being raised as Spock’s adopted sister” to the craftsmanship, diversity, and secrecy of the series!

As for what has been said about her character’s upbringing, Sonequa Martin-Green clarifies Burnham’s background:

“I appreciate how courageous this story is and I appreciate how they have woven me into that family because Spock is an institution…I am 100% human. My parents were killed when I was very young and it happened at a Vulcan outpost, so they took responsibility for me. And I was commissioned to Sarek and Amanda’s care, so I became their surrogate daughter and thereby Spock’s [sister].”
