star trek discovery

‘Star Trek’ fans rejoice! CBS has revealed another new web spot to promote the upcoming premiere of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ on September 24. The new clip is filled to the brim with new footage and we are able to hear Captain Lorca, played by Jason Isaacs saying:

“You are explorers. You chose to go where no one has gone before.”

After some fast footage featuring First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), Lt. Saru (Doug Jones), and Cadet Tilly (Mary Wiseman), the clip ends with a shot of Lorca talking to what seems to be a Starfleet captain, telling him that fortune favors the bold.

Similar to previous ‘Discovery’ trailers, this clip appears to be isolated to the United States. Keep your eyes out for international trailers as they become available.’

‘Discovery’ has already experienced a rocky start, with multiple premiere delays, initial visuals that were not pleasing to many fans, and the creative team struggling to keep their story straight as to the background of certain characters. Compound all of this with Isaacs coming under fire following some recent comments. In a recent interview, Isaacs said:

“I don’t mean to sound irreverent when I say I don’t care about the die-hard ‘Trek’ fans. I only ‘don’t care’ about them in the sense that I know they’re all going to watch anyway. I look forward to having the fun of them being outraged, so they can sit up all night and talk about it with each other.”

Isaacs has since revealed the meaning behind his words, saying he only meant he was not worried about die-hard ‘Star Trek’ fans being attracted to the show. It remains to be seen, however; whether the missteps surrounding Discovery’s release will affect such fans’ attraction to the show.

‘Star Trek: Discovery’ will premiere on Sunday, September 24 on CBS. Immediately after the first episode’s release, the second episode will become available in the U.S. on CBS All Access, with later episodes released every Sunday. The first eight episodes of the series will run from September 24 through November 5 and will return in January 2018.
