Funny Or Die has been responsible for some of the most hilarious viral videos on the internet.  (Remember their first clip, ‘The Landlord’?)  The site draws some of the top comedy writers, directors as well as actors including many that aren’t known for comedic roles, who want to show their lighter side.

Now the site has turned its satirical lends toward the already campy ‘Power Rangers’.  Created by Gavin Hignight, ‘Mystic Cosmic Patrol’ features Minae Noji (‘General Hospital’) as Rutina, a parody of Rita Repulsa.  The clip also features Tim Russ, best known as Tuvok from ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ as Gorgon, this show’s version of Zordon and John Kassir, a.k.a. the Crypt Keeper from ‘Tales From the Crypt’ as Martini-Bot, an alcohol-slinging variation on Alpha-5.  In the first installment, the Mystic Cosmic Patrol find their base besieged by a toilet come to life, that goes by Potty Mouth.  Eric Bauza embodies the creature.

Hignight himself plays Mickey the Black Patrolman, while the only really recognizable face in the cast is Chris Masterson (‘Malcolm In The Middle’) as team leader Jack, the Blue Patrolman.  The rest of the team is comprised of Tim Jo (Leo/Red), Laura Monaco (Candy/Yellow), Chelsea Tavares (Emily/Green) and Chris Candy, who in a comedic (?) twist plays Carl the Pink Patrolman.  Alexander Ward rounds out the cast as Rutina’s alien henchman.

Unfortunately, if the only options are “funny” or “die,” this falls under the die category.  Considering that the real ‘Power Rangers’, especially older incarnations, are already inadvertently comical, parodying the concept may be unnecessary but should be fairly simple.  “Like shooting fish in a barrel,” as the saying goes.  There are no actual jokes detectable.  Apparently, it’s just supposed to be funny because there’s a fat guy in pink spandex, a teenage superhero getting white girl wasted, and a walking toilet spraying urine at the heroes.  I doubt a first grader would even smile at this clip, and all they ever laugh at is pee and poo.
