While Paramount’s ‘Transformers’ films have been box office juggernauts for the past ten years, it’s no secret that the studio has ambitions of pushing the series beyond its already impressive standing. And what better way to do that than to expand the series into a shared universe? While the first proper spinoff on the studio’s slate is 2018’s ‘Bumblebee‘, it falls to this summer’s installment, ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’, to lay the groundwork for that expansion. That’s no small ask for a series that is, frankly, known more for its big robot fights than for its narrative. And with the film’s release now less than two months away, that narrative has found itself at the center of the film’s marketing with the release of the latest teaser.

At the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards this past weekend, ‘Transformers’ stars Mark Wahlberg and Isabela Moner were on hand during the ceremony to debut an exclusive preview of the upcoming film. The teaser (which you can find below) is split into two segments. The first, which encompasses the majority of the minute and a half runtime, is a single clip that introduces Anthony Hopkins’ character and offers hints of the movie’s plot and the mysteries that drive it. The remainder of the preview (approximately the final third) is a sizzle reel that serves as a preview of the film’s myriad action scenes.
