You have to hand it to Starz, they know how to promote a new series and with the premiere of ‘American Gods‘ less than a week away (the series will first air on April 30th), it is no wonder we are seeing all of these clips and promotional material coming out for the highly anticipated series.

For those who have no idea what ‘American Gods’ is about, the show is an adaptation of the novel by Neil Gaiman (with the same name) in which the Old gods of yore are gathered by Mr. Wednesday and his new hire Shadow Moon for a coming war with the New gods, all of whom are vying for the same source of power, worship from modern man. We are introduced into the world of the gods through the eyes of Shadow Moon, who starts the story being released from prison after his wife dies, and very quickly meets and is recruited by Mr. Wednesday. With Bryan Fuller and Michael Green set as show runners (as well as executive producers alongside Neil Gaiman), there is a lot of excitement for the new series.

In the clips below, we first see the introduction between Shadow Moon and Mr. Wednesday, which is followed by much briefer clips of most of the main characters of the series giving us a taste of what they are about and where their characters stand when the series begins, including Shadow Moon, his dead wife Laura Moon (who apparently is still an active character), Mad Sweeney the down-on-his luck leprechaun, the attention starved love goddess Bilquis, Czernobog the god of darkness of and evil who seems to just want to be left alone, and Easter who clearly is just trying to fit in nowadays. And lastly, we have the full trailer for the series itself.

And here’s the synopsis for the new show:

“American Gods” posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New.  The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). But in truth, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful old deity, on a cross-country mission to build an army and reclaim his lost glory.
