It’s official! After months of speculation, Josh Brolin has come up on top and has been cast as Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’!
Brolin beat out Michael Shannon (‘Man of Steel’), David Harbour (‘Stranger Things’), and Kyle Chandler (‘Friday Night Lights,’ ‘Super 8’) for the role which has garnered a lot of buzz within the fandom. Rumors also had Pierce Brosnan and Brad Pitt also up for the part.
Brolin’s casting does come as a surprise as the actor is already playing Thanos in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and will be joining the ranks with Chris Evans as actors who have played two different characters in Marvel films.
THR states that Brolin has signed on to play Cable for four movies so it looks like we’ll be seeing much more of him in the X-Men cinematic universe! Most likely the next outing for his character after ‘Deadpool 2’ will be the ‘X-Force’ film.
Production of the ‘Deadpool’ sequel begins in June we’ll so most likely be getting a good look at what Brolin will look like in character soon.
