We have some news for ‘Gifted’, FOX’s new ‘X-Men’-based series coming this fall.  We already knew quite a about the cast, but this casting call for extras/bit parts gives a few more clues as to some of the events of the story.

According to the casting call, producers were looking for:

High school students at dance, Seedy types at bar, Native Americans at outpost, 4AM diner patrons, Hotel maid, Law office background, Barfly woman, 14-17 year old high school students, and sentinel service techs.

Obviously, the biggest clue is the call for “[S]entinel service techs,” indicating that the mutant hunting robots which have played a huge role in the ‘X-Men”s history will factor into this series.  These hulking metal monsters were last seen in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ where they… er, killed most of the surviving heroes.

The show will center on human couple Reed and Kate Stewart, played by ‘True Blood”s Stephen Moyer and ‘Angel”s Amy Acker, who must protect their mutant children from the government.  Their daughter Lauren is played by ‘Gotham”s Natalie Alyn Lind.  Percy Hynes White plays a character listed only as Andy.  It’s possible he is the Stewart’s other child.  Since the kids appear to be high school age, that explains why they would be casting additional students.

We already know that Blair Redford (right) plays  “the strong-headed Native American leader of the underground network” of mutants.  The casting for “Native Americans at outpost” probably plays into his character.  His character is listed as “Sam,” but that could be a distraction to divert from his true role.  In the comics, there are two major Native American characters, the brothers John “Thunderbird” Proudstar and his younger brother James, who goes by Warpath.

Characters that we know are from the comics are Clarice Ferguson/Blink, played by Jamie Chung and Lorna Dane/Polaris played by Emma Dumont.

Other new characters are Marcos Diaz, also known as Eclipse, played by Sean Teale and Jace Turner “a weathered man who quietly wrestles with the moral ambiguities of a job that regularly requires cold-blooded, calculating efficiency on a day-to-day basis” played by Coby Bell.  It’s possible that Jace Turner has something to do with the Sentinels.

‘Gifted’ was created by Matt Nix (‘Burn Notice’) who will also executive produce with Jim Chory, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Lauren Shuler Donner and Bryan Singer, who will direct the pilot episode.  FOX ordered the show straight to series, so expect to see it on the air this fall.
