Ever since the “Original Sin” story arc years ago had finalized we have all wondered what had turned Odinson into ‘The Unworthy Thor, ‘ and in the fifth issue of the new series, we are finally going to find out why!
Nick Fury whispered a secret into Thor’s ear that caused him to be no longer able to wield Mjolnir. A single piece of information brought the God of Thunder to his knees and put him on a self-destructive path to redemption. In this issue, it looks that we’ll be seeing Odinson wielding the Ultimate Thor’s Mjolnir and we will finally find out this secret as well!
Jason Aaron has been just knocking the writing out of the park in this series, and Olivier Coipel has given him the desperation in his visuals where you can feel the loss that Thor has suffered. When Odinson first lost Mjolnir, it felt a little forced and dragged on but as time passed, not only have we been given an amazing new Thor but really saw Odinson fall into a level of desperation and despair we haven’t seen him in before. I believe that this experience will change him for the better moving forward and can’t wait to see what happens when he gets the hammer in this upcoming issue.
It will be interesting to see if he can keep the hammer for an extended period or will need to sacrifice it for a greater good. The fifth installment is the final issue of this limited run we should be getting quite a few answers though it is hard to tell if we’ll see Odinson return as a Thor or not.

The cover hints at an epic confrontation between the God of Thunder and Thanos which I believe the last panel might be hinting at. I suspect the book will end either with Thor wielding this Mjolnir from another world or having to voluntarily give it up while realizing he wants to be worthy once more for the hammer he has held for years.
