Now this is what we’ve been waiting for!

Following a social media campaign that generated over 75,000 reactions, Saban and Lionsgate have released a new trailer for the upcoming ‘Power Rangers’ film.

While past trailers have been decidedly focused on the teen’s lives before becoming Power Rangers, with only the barest of hints at the superheroic side of the franchise (witness Rita Repulsa’s fleeting appearances or the fact that earlier trailers have ended just as the Rangers begin to morph), this one turns that approach on its ear. In fact, this trailer offers an ample supply of things fans have been anxious to see outside of concept art, including the Rangers themselves, the zords, Goldar, and of course Bryan Cranston’s Zordon.

The trailer is available to watch here:

In addition to the release of the trailer, director Dean Israelite was recently interviewed over at Heat Vision, where he described the influence that the original ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ TV series had on his approach to the film:

I think I grew up on those characters and watched them grow up, too. There wasn’t always much depth and complexity to the show, but the themes of it are complex. I thought if I could bring these themes and embellish them and make them nuanced and multi-dimensional, it could echo the start of the show.
