Netflix just released the first trailer for their new Sci-fi movie ‘iBoy,’ which is looking to capitalize on both the digital craze that has swept the world in the past couple of decades as well as the superhero trend in movies that has been all the craze in filmmaking since the early 2000s. Add in the fact that the cast includes ‘Game of Thrones’ star Maisie Williams who looks like she might prove to be just as bad-ass as her Westeros counterpart by the time the events in the movie come to a close, and it looks like the film has a lot of the ingredients it needs to be very entertaining indeed.

From the trailer (which you can check out below), it lo0ks like the basic plot is that while being robbed at gunpoint, a teenage boy Tom Harvey (Bill Milner) tries to use his phone to call for help, and he is shot in the head, but the bullet goes through the phone, fusing bits of the circuitry to his head/brain. When he wakes up, he is told he is lucky that the phone shrapnel did not dig deeper into his brain, but he soon discovers new powers that seem to allow him to see what everyone around him is doing on their phones, tablets, computers, TV’s, etc, and eventually it would seem, able to control the technology around him. And instead of going the route of using this power to become a supervillain, Tom becomes a vigilante, going after the criminals until they suck his girlfriend Lucy into their crosshairs, who he must save, but in the trailer it looks like she manages to get a hold of a gun herself, and fights with him to save the day.

Make sure to check out the trailer for yourself below, and share your thoughts on the latest movie venture from Netflix and whether it might be worth giving a watch in the comments below!

All episodes of ‘iBoy’ will be available to stream on January 27th on Netflix.
