Well ‘Game of Thrones’ fans, your Holidays just got more epic. HBO has just announced via Twitter that there is going to be an epic ‘Game of Thrones’ marathon to end 2016 running from December 26th to December 31st on HBO 2, showing a season a day on HBO’s sister network. Yep, that means watching an entire season (10 episodes, around 10 hours) a day until the new year, if you are up for it.

The announcement came on the ‘Game of Thrones Twitter’ account with the excellent tag ‘Rally the Realm’ (check it out below), and it is definitely a tempting offer. Whether you are a new fan or a returning fan, the chance to sit down and watch all 6 seasons once more, to dive back into the world of Westeros and relive all of those great moments is far too tempting, especially as we close out 2016 and prepare for the long wait (winter?) til the summer of 2017 when Season 7 of ‘Game of Thrones’ will finally premiere.

Also released with the Twitter announcement is a great 30 second trailer for the marathon, and while it only features footage from Season 6 of the show, it does a great job of building excitement for a massive marathon of binge watching, and I would not be surprised if many homes had ‘Game of Thrones’ on in the background as they enjoyed their holiday breaks this year, even if they are not actively watching. I remember growing up there was always a ‘007’ marathon on TV around the holidays, maybe this is the start of a new tradition of HBO having a ‘Game of Thrones’ marathon every year? (which of course will become even better/ longer once the final seasons have aired)
