In a huge mistake on Marvel’s part, it sounds like Vincent D’Onofrio isn’t set to reprise his role as The Kingpin in either ‘The Defenders‘ or ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.’ Unless he is trolling us or has been asked to keep it a secret, D’Onofrio has denied having a role in either of these upcoming releases. While I’m not too surprised that he isn’t showing up in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ as Marvel Studios and Marvel seem to not be willing to share characters anymore, it would have still been fun to see one of the enemies of everyone’s favorite neighborhood Spider-Man show up even if it was just as a cameo.

First up, a fan asked if he would be showing up in ‘The Defenders’ which one would hope happens after his stunning performances in both seasons of ‘Daredevil’ though he quite quickly shot that down by simply stating:

This was followed up by a question many of us would hope would be answered with a YES! As The Kingpin is primarily the villain for both Daredevil and The Punisher, he has a long history with Spider-Man and has tussled with the Wallcrawler on quite a few occasions. So when asked if he would appear in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ it was just a:

For any future films he was a little more response by saying:

With a younger Spider-Man this would be the perfect time to give us this scene which we’ll now never see in live-action if this proves to be true:

We can all attest that the villains in the MCU have mostly been the weakest point outside of Loki and potentially Red Skull. That being said, it looks like we won’t see The Kingpin throwing down with Spidey anytime soon, here’s still hoping for a cameo, though.

Now, when WILL we see him again? Thankfully, D’Onofrio has a sense of humor about all of this. It looks like Fisk will be back but he can’t tell us when quite yet because of this:

I’m not going to lie, drinking coffee while seeing that tweet was nearly a mistake that my keyboard and monitor had to pay for. We are EAGERLY looking forward to the return of Wilson Fisk and hope that D’Onofrio will have plenty of opportunities to reprise his take on such a complicated and fascinating villain.

We all know that this isn’t the first time we’ve heard a Netflix star weigh in on their characters not showing up in the MCU as Mike Colter was pretty sure that Luke Cage and the rest of The Defenders wouldn’t be in the films either.

Are you looking forward to Wilson Fisk showing up again? Do you feel that he’ll be only used in the Netflix shows or might he appear in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe down the line? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
