Since before there even was a Marvel Cinematic Universe, Stan Lee’s ubiquitous cameos have been a staple of the various film adaptations of Marvel comics.

In recent remarks to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Lee commented on his appearance in ‘Doctor Strange‘. In the film, he plays a passenger on a bus who remains oblivious to the reality warping battle around him while reading a copy of Aldous Huxley’s ‘The Doors of Perception’. Of the scene, Lee said “I loved the ‘Doctor Strange’ cameo. Next to Mother Goose, Huxley’s my favorite.”

In addition, Lee also shared his favorite cameo to date, which it turns out is from ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘. He explained the reasons for this preference in his own inimitable fashion:

“I insisted that Thor let me share his potent drink. In the next scene, they were carrying me out. It’s my favorite because it’s the only one in which I had two scenes!”

Recently, we reported that Lee had not only filmed his cameo for ‘Doctor Strange’, but also shot appearances in three future Marvel films on the same day. This was done for practical reasons. Simply put, it’s not always the easiest thing for the often busy 93 year old to travel to a set for one day of filming. It has been confirmed that, in addition to ‘Doctor Strange’, the cameos (which were filmed by James Gunn) included Lee’s appearances in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. It has not been stated which movie the fourth cameo was intended for, but based on Marvel’s production schedule, it will most likely find its way into either ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ or the next ‘Avengers’ film.

The latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ‘Doctor Strange’ arrived in theaters last week, on November 4, 2016. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Mads Mikkelsen, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Stan Lee’s next cameo will be seen in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’, which will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
