Things have been pretty quiet on the development of ‘Godzilla 2‘ though we’ve just learned that the studio has hired Michael Dougherty (‘X-Men 2’,’Superman Returns) and Zach Shields (‘Krampus‘) to pair up to scribe the film. With Dougherty having brought us the amazing ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ and the pair having worked together on ‘Krampus,’ they not only have experience working with one another but should hopefully be able to pull together a fun story. Not only that, but it seems that the entire future of the series is still being plotted out.

Legendary “might be preparing to set up a writers room to help create the upcoming Godzilla-King Kong universe.” Paramount has done this with ‘Transformers’ in the past and while some might think this is a bad idea, the idea would probably be to keep everyone on the same page while moving forward with the next ‘Godzilla’, “King Kong’, and crossover films. Seems like it would make sense to have everyone on the same page for the grand vision of this epic Kaiju crossover.

With ‘Godzilla’ likely wanting to find a way to not only pay tribute to the character’s long history in the rebooted universe, King Kong’s history as well, and finding a way to bring these two titans together and fighting for our amusement – I’m glad that they’ve decided to keep the story having a narrative that can be followed. As the plan is to have an interconnected set of films, being brought out of them by continuity errors can have audiences getting annoyed rather quickly.

Are you happy to hear that Doughtery and Shields will be tackling the next ‘Godzilla’ movie? Do you think that a writer’s room is the way to go for the franchise? Share your thoughts below!

‘Godzilla 2’ will be tearing into theaters on May 22nd, 2019!
