Hello and welcome once again to an all new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! October is here and that means that it’s time for New York Comic Con! This week is a little bit light on news, but if we had to guess that is because next week we are going to have a ton of great new reveals for you from the show in New York! Hopefully we will be seeing some of you there on The Con Floor, but for now here’s the Toy News for the week of October 4th, 2016!
Never Underestimate The Power Of Hot Toys
The ‘Star Wars’ toy license has historically been one of the most profitable and popular license of all time since it first premiered in the late 1970’s. Over the last few years, Hot Toys has done wonders with this already iconic brand, bringing these legendary characters to life in beautiful 1:6th scale. This week Hot Toys revealed three brand new figures based on the always popular ‘Star Wars’ license, with characters coming to us from the two most recent films in the franchise; ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’!
The latest figures joining the Hot Toys 1:6th scale ‘Star Wars’ line are Luke Skywalker from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, as well as Darth Vader and a Shore Trooper from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’! Each of these new figures is made to perfectly represent their respective characters from the film in lifelike detail and include character-specific accessories! The Force Awakens 1/6th scale Luke Skywalker Collectible Figure

In the aftermath of the fall of the Empire, Luke Skywalker, the last surviving Jedi, has put himself in exile after his attempt to train a new generation of Jedi went horribly awry. Rogue One – 1/6th scale Darth Vader Collectible Figure

Rogue One – 1/6th scale Shoretrooper Collectible Figure
The Star Wars galaxy expands in size and scope as the story advances to new planets and locales never before seen on film. This December, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will introduce us to the secluded and heavily guarded tropical planet Scarif, where Imperial military installations are established and new specialist Stormtroopers known as the Shoretroopers are stationed to patrol the beaches and bunkers of the planetary facility.

New Hasbro Figure 4-Pack Joins ‘Rogue One’ Lineup
The team at Hasbro announced most of their toyline for ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ a few weeks back, and unleashed it last week on ‘Force Friday 2016’! Now they’ve revealed a new piece of merchandise that 3.75″ scale collectors aren’t going to want to miss! The newest collectible to join the ‘Rogue One’ toyline from Hasbro is a figure 4-pack titled ‘Jedha Revolt’ that includes Jyn Erso, Edrio Two Tubes, an Imperial Hovertank Pilot, and Saw Gerrera! While most of the ‘Rogue One’ toys are hitting shelves now, this set is due to hit retailers early next spring.

It’s officially October, which is probably the single greatest time of the year for horror lovers! To celebrate, the team at NECA has revealed the final figure specs for their new 7″ scale ‘Ultimate’ Jason Voorhees figure! This figure is based on Jason’s appearance in ‘Friday The 13th Part III’, which as many know is the film in which he obtained his iconic hockey mask! NECA’s ‘Ultimate Jason Voorhees’ features over 25 points of articulation and includes several film specific accessories including two interchangeable heads, two interchangeable masks, and a variety of weapons! For horror fans, Friday the 13th Part III was a landmark event: not only was it the first appearance of Jason’s now-iconic hockey mask, it was initially released in theaters as a 3D movie! NECA is proud to present the definitive collector’s version of Jason as he appeared in the 1982 film.
This deluxe 7” scale action figure features over 25 points of articulation and is packed with accessories. It comes with two masks, two interchangeable head sculpts, pitchfork, wrench, knife, fire poker, harpoon gun, machete, and axe. The packaging is deluxe too, with a lenticular front window flap in honor of the film’s 3D release!

Keeping up with their usual trend of being incredibly awesome, the crew at NECA also revealed two new additions to your ‘ALIENS’ collection this week! The first isn’t entirely new, so much as it’s a chance for those who missed out on some earlier releases in their ‘ALIENS’ line to play catch up, with a new figure 2-Pack featuring Colonial Marine’s Hudson and Hicks! These two were some of the earliest figures in the line and many missed them the first time around, so it makes sense that NECA would rerelease them now that the line is at the height of its popularity! Continuing the Aliens 30th anniversary celebration, NECA presents a special edition action figure 2-pack that includes two iconic Colonial Marines! Long out of production, Hicks and Hudson are collected here with all the pieces that appeared in their individual and 2-pack releases.
Each figure stands approximately 7” tall and comes with an interchangeable head with a helmeted “combat” sculpt. The set comes packed with signature weapons and other accessories: pulse rifles, motion detectors, shoulder lamps, welding torches, shotgun and shotgun carrier. Both feature the authorized likeness of their actors (Bill Paxton and Michael Biehn) and have over 30 points of articulation for dramatic poses.

Additionally, this week NECA has released final figure images of their ‘Classic Video Game Appearance’ Alien Xenomorph from the 1990 ‘ALIENS’ arcade game! Another horror classic joins NECA’s line of classic video game tribute figures!
The Warrior is based on its appearance in the Aliens arcade game, a side-scrolling adventure that began devouring quarters in 1990. The figure comes with Facehugger, Chestburster and Egg accessories, and all feature special paint deco that reproduces their in-game appearance. The Warrior stands over 9″ tall and has a bendable tail and nearly 30 points of articulation.
Comes in gorgeous, display-friendly 5th panel window box packaging that recreates the look of the actual arcade cabinet!
1:6th Heroes In A Half Shell
TNI is reporting images of new 1:6th scale comic style ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ figures from DreamEX! While DreamEX announced 1:6th scale figures of Casey Jones, The Shredder, and even Krang a while back, we have never actually seen any figures from them of the turtles themselves until now! They don’t appear to be based on any one particular era of the turtle’s history and instead appear to be original designs based on the general concept of the classic turtles.
Half Foot Half Hearted Heroes
This summer, Warner Brothers ‘Suicide Squad’ took the box office by storm! Now thanks to the crew at Comiccave Studios (and images from the One Twelve Republic Facebook group), you can bring home even more versions of these heroic villains with their new 1:12th Scale ‘Suicide Squad’ figures! Much like the One:12 Collective line from Mezco, these new 6″ tall figures from ComicCave Studios include soft goods clothing and try to cram all of the detail of a 1:6th scale figure into half the size! So far figures revealed for this line include Deadshot, Harley Quinn, The Joker, and two different Joker Henchmen (Mr. Grin with Black Helmet & Mr. Grin with White Helmet).
The Funko Forecast
Get ready for the Funko Forecast! This is where we’re going to be showcasing all of the cool new announcements and reveals from Funko! With all of the awesome that consistently seems to be flowing out of those guys, it shouldn’t be hard to keep this section alive each and every week!
Sweet Christmas!
While there isn’t any solid information regarding a release date for either of these, Funko has decided to celebrate the release of Marvel’s new live action ‘Luke Cage’ series on Netflix by revealing these two awesome new Luke Cage POP! Vinyls! They have revealed a classic comic book styled Luke Cage, as well as a version based on his live action Netflix counterpart’s appearance in ‘Jessica Jones’! Hopefully, we will be seeing more info regarding a release date for these soon!

Funko Stands Tall For Titanfall
The team at Funko is diving headfirst into uncharted territory with a special new line of 6″ super-sized POP! Vinyls based on the upcoming video game sequel ‘Titanfall 2’! These special new 6″ super-sized POP! Vinyls of the Titanfall Mechs will be able to open up so you can sit their 2″ ‘Buddy’ POP! Vinyl inside their cockpits! Figures in this set include Jack & BT, Sarah & MOB-1316, Blisk & Legion, and the Gamestop Exclusive Atlas & Pilot. These are all due out this fall!
The 90’s Called…
Ask and ye shall receive! After years of fan demand, Funko is finally adding characters from Steven Spielberg’s 90’s animation block! This November you can look for The Warner Brothers, Yakko and Wacko, and their sister Dot from ‘Animaniacs’ in stores! You should also keep an eye for Pinky and The Brain from the aptly titled ‘Pinky & The Brain’ series! Now we just have to hold out hope that this trend continues and we get more POP! Vinyls of other ‘Animaniacs’ favorites or, if we are ever so lucky, Freakazoid!
It’s Over 9000!
‘Dragon ball Z’ fans rejoice! It’s time for yet another Hot Topic Exclusive ‘Dragon Ball Z’ and this time, it’s a fan favorite coming our way in the form of ‘Badman’ Vegeta! This is the series anti-hero decked out in his civilian clothes, which included a pink shirt that simply says ‘Badman’ on the back (and it ain’t lying!). This should be hitting Hot Topic stores this month!
A Valiant Effort
A few years back, Valiant Comics made their triumphant return to the comics industry after a decade of dormancy. Now they’re breaking into the Funko game with the first ever Valiant Comics POP! Vinyl figure! The first Valiant Comics POP! Vinyl is going to be the titular hero of ‘Faith’, and she will be sold exclusively at New York Comic-Con 2016 ahead of her wide release next year! Here’s the full rundown from Valiant!
“Orphaned at a young age, Faith Herbert – a psionically gifted “psiot” discovered by the Harbinger Foundation – has always aspired to greatness. But now this once-ordinary teenager is taking control of her destiny and becoming the hard-hitting hero she’s always known she can be – complete with a mild-mannered secret identity, unsuspecting colleagues, and a day job as a reporter that routinely throws her into harm’s way!
