With a property like Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers’ films, each new installment inevitably brings with it the question of which new characters will be introduced. This especially holds true for fan favorite characters like the Dinobots, who were finally introduced in the latter portion of ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction‘. However, even though the Dinobots were not only featured in the film but a centerpiece of its marketing, their ultimate role could generously be described as a glorified cameo.

With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that we will be seeing the Dinobots in a more substantial role when ‘Transformers: The Last Knight‘ lands in theaters next year. But that’s not all. As fans may already know, a number of rumored plot points were leaked early this summer. Among those elements were the inclusion of both the established Dinobots and a new group of Mini-Dinobots. Now, thanks to actor Mark Wahlberg (who will be reprising his role from ‘Age of Extinction’ in the upcoming film) we can confirm that Grimlock and company will this time be joined by the aforementioned Mini-Dinobots.

This confirmation came as part of a video Q&A that Wahlberg conducted on Facebook. We’ve included a link to the full Q&A here if you’re interested in checking out for yourself. The most relevant portion is as follows:

I will be in ‘Transformers 5’. Right now we are shooting in London. I’m actually in New York City right now, doing some press for ‘Deepwater Horizon’, and then I’m flying back to London to finish up the last couple of weeks on ‘Transformers 5’. It’s a cool new story, it’s kind of like a man on the run. Sir Anthony Hopkins is also in the film. We’ve got a cool new cast and cool new robots, cool new villains, and some cool new Dinobots. I think you guys are really gonna go crazy for the Mini-Dinobots.
