phantasm

The fifth and final ‘Phantasm‘ movie is finally coming to the big screen and we’ve got the first trailer for ‘Phantasm: Ravager’ to share with you today. Don Coscarelli debuted the first chapter in this horror series back in 1979 and has been slowly releasing them since that time with the fourth chapter having been released 18 years ago in 1998. This will officially be the last role of horror icon Angus Scrimm who sadly passed away earlier this year at 89 years old.

Clearly, not just a fan of the role but the man was passionate about what he did.

The film will also close out the long-running story of Reggie Bannister’s Reggie, A. Michael Baldwin’s Mike, and Bill Thornbury’s Jody as they go up against The Tall Man one last time. Fans of the series who had previously missed the news should be thrilled to hear that Well GO USA Entertainment who is re-releasing a 4K remaster of the original, and HD restorations of 1994’s ‘Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead’ and 1998’s ‘Phantasm IV: Oblivion’!

When talking about the film Coscarelli says:

“It’s a swan song to the series. There’s some new iterations of those brain-shucking spheres and a lot of good stuff that the fans will enjoy. It ties up a lot of the storylines and answers some questions that fans have had.”

For a film that has taken over a decade to make and a franchise that began in 1979, this looks as if it is going to be quite a perfect conclusion and I just hope that Coscarelli leaves us with a fitting masterpiece to close out his series.
