Fans of ‘Booster Gold‘ were thrilled that Greg Berlanti was bringing the character to the big screen but hopefully no one was expecting him to interact with DC’s heavy hitters. It looks as if ‘Booster Gold’ will not end up being part of DC’s Cinematic Universe and will instead be a standalone feature. Depending how you look at it this is either a huge win or a big blow to the movie.

On the one hand, that means he won’t exist in the same universe that ‘Man of Steel’ spawned so can’t interact with the likes of Superman, Batman, or the rest of the Justice League which makes crossover potential nonexistent. On the other hand, with how panned the movies have been by critics and fans alike, this could be the best news for the film to be able to stand on its own.

Really, it’s a matter of perspective and what your thoughts on DC’s Cinematic Universe are so far.

When asked about the project Berlanti stated:

“As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds. It’d be a separate thing.”

Apparently, at one point a television series was being shopped around but as it “never got off the ground” he was able to pitch the movie idea which was picked up. It would be kind of entertaining to see DC really confuse their audiences here and use Berlanti’s ties to DC’s television universe to have it tied in there.

While Berlanti’s comments taken at face value do seem to state that it won’t be in continuity with DC’s current cinematic plans, it could just mean that while he’ll exist in the world that he wasn’t invited to the Justice League party and therefore isn’t on their radar even if they are on his.

Previously, a ‘Booster Gold’ and ‘Blue Beetle’ movie was in the works so he might not strictly be alone when he does end up on the big screen.

Only time will tell.

Are you looking forward to ‘Booster Gold’ heading to the big screen? Would you prefer the movie to be a standalone or part of DC’s Cinematic Universe? Share your thoughts below!
