Transformers: The Last Knight

While it’s not unusual for people to take to Instagram to show off their new camera, most of us have never done so with same flair as Michael Bay.

The camera in question, dubbed “Bayhem,” was developed by the Red Digital Cinema Camera Company with input from the ‘Transformers’ director himself. Since the company’s founding in 2005, Red’s cameras have taken Hollywood by storm as the film industry rapidly made the jump from film to digital. Described by Bay as “the lightest, most advanced hand held motion picture camera in the world,” the camera certainly makes an impression as Bay puts it through his paces on the set of ‘Transformers: The Last Knight.’

But of course, the real treat here isn’t the camera, but the action that its filming. The video shows Bay filming one of the series’ signature battle scenes, and even without the CGI elements, it is a sight to behold. As Bay walks around the set, we are able to take in the chaos of the scene, as pyrotechnics are (literally) being set off left and right and one particularly prominent stuntman is launched several feet through the air as soldiers take cover behind what looks like pieces of debris. As you might expect from a Michael Bay film, the action is intense to say the least. The video provides no context for the battle, but how much do we really need? You can take a look at the footage below:
