Since Kurt Russell was added to the cast, True Believers have been buzzing about Ego the Living Planet’s role in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’. Specifically, everyone wants to know how a literal planet is Peter Quill’s father. But there are still plenty of other things to wonder about when it comes to James Gunn’s upcoming Phase Three film. For instance, what is the film actually about? Luckily, Vin Diesel is here to give us the answer.

After he finished watching a scene from the film earlier this week at Walt Disney Studios with Gunn, Diesel took to Facebook Live to share his reaction with his fans. The voice of Groot was clearly overcome with emotion following that small glimpse at what’s to come for Star-Lord and company, but upon gathering his composure, he and his director spoke about various aspects of the film including Michael Rooker’s commitment to his craft, Chris Pratt’s casting, and more. But it was when the pair started talking about Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan’s characters that we really got to the juicy new information about the highly anticipated sequel:

Guardians of the Galaxy Nebula and Gamora“I really feel like we give the female characters a chance to shine in this movie. Because Zoe Saldana comes in and she is so wonderfully beautiful as her character. It’s touching. And Karen Gillan as Nebula comes in, and she’s her sister, and she’s completely a much deeper character than we got in the first movie, so we get to know her.

And that’s one of the things that this movie is about. The first movie was really about becoming a family. This movie is about being a family. And what’s harder, becoming a family or being a family? I think it’s being a family. That’s where you really have to deal with each other. And that’s what this movie is about. And their sisters. They are family, whether they like it or not. And they also want to kill each other, so it adds a new twist to being a sister.”

As Diesel says, it’s going to be hard to wait all that time to see the film, especially when it apparently evokes such strong emotions like that. But in the mean time, what do you think about the themes that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ will contain? Are you excited to delve more into Gamora and Nebula’s relationship as sisters? Let us know in the comments below.
