TV and movie review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes may have just revealed the theme to ‘American Horror Story’ Season 6.  As they have in years past, the shows creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have kept the theme of the upcoming installment of the anthology series under wraps.  But this year they wanted to keep the theme completely secret until the first episode aired, on September 14, 2016.  The creators went so far as to release 20 teaser trailers which all explored different elements of horror, but stated that only one of them was legit.

There have been rumors that this season would somehow feature children, that it may be set in two different time periods and that it may involve the Roanoke colony.   But that is all speculation.

But now it seems that Rotten Tomatoes may have spilled the beans.  The site has listed Season 6 as being subtitled ‘The Mist’.

There is one trailer that is listed as ‘The Mist’ which you can watch below:

However, ‘The Mist’ trailer isn’t one of those that was believed to be a contender.  Allegedly, the theme was narrowed to six other clips: ‘Recovery’, ‘Feel Something?’, ‘Monster Meets Girl’, ‘Rise’, ‘Raising Hell’ and ‘Listen’.  But who knows what to believe at this point?

We can at least report on the cast.  Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Denis O’Hare, who been with the show since the beginning are back again.  They are joined by fellow alums Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Finn Wittrock, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson and Leslie Jordan.  The cast welcomes AHS newcomer Cuba Gooding Jr.  Emma Roberts and Taissa Farmiga are rumored to also appear at some point.

Season 6 will be the shortest yet, consisting of only ten episodes.

That’s… about all we know at this point.  But at least we only have a few weeks until the new season premiers.

What do you think of ‘The Mist’ as a theme?
