No one should have any doubts about the cinematic choices made by directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, especially after they managed to turn such oddball ideas like ’21 Jump Street’ and ‘The Lego Movie’ into spectacular films with their own franchises. After having made their main casting decision with Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo himself, we now have heard from Mashable reporter Jeff Sneider that they are currently casting the female role for the ‘Young Han Solo’ movie, and according to him, the final four prospects are non-white actresses.

First of all, in an ideal world this kind of casting would not be “news” per say, but we live in the world we live in. Having Han’s love interest be anything but white fits just fine with me, as I would like to think in the ‘Star Wars’ universe they do not have the kind of racial mindset we have here. And it would fit in with the new ‘Star Wars’ comic series (which is canon) where Han has an ex-wife that is black, and who knows, this might be the origin story to that relationship.

In other news, it seems the number one pick for Lord and Miller for playing Lando Calrissian is none other than Donald Glover himself, and everyone seems to feel this is a great idea. Whether or not Glover would be down for the role is another issue, as it is unclear whether or not the man has been approached yet, but I cannot think of another young actor more suited to play the charming and charismatic hustler who will one day become the character embodied by Billy Dee Williams.
