SPOILER ALERT: This obviously discusses the post-credits scene in ‘Ghostbusters’ so if you’d rather wait and see it for yourself, you may want to skip it.

After much debate and anticipation, Paul Feig’s ‘Ghostbusters’ has finally begun screening for critics and surprisingly, the response has been mostly positive.  It was always believed that this was just the first of a new franchise, but after negative reaction to trailers, it looked like those chances might be dashed.  But even so, it looks like a teaser for a sequel does appear in a post-credits scene.

SPOILER ALERT FROM HERE!

It turns out that after the credits role, there is a stinger which may please fans of the original movie.

The team is gathered in their newly-built lab with Leslie Jones‘ character Patty Tolan listening to a tape player used earlier in the film to record “electronic voice phenomena”.  Patty hears something and excitedly tells her teammates that she heard the word “Zuul.”  Since this isn’t a word they’re familiar with, they simply shrug and return to what they were doing.

Zuul was, of course, a menace from the original 1984 ‘Ghostbusters’ who possessed Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver).  Zuul along with Vinz Clortho, who possessed the body of Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), were the servants of demon god Gozer, the film’s major villain.

Now it just remains to be seen whether or not the new ‘Ghostbusters’ scares up enough film-goers to justify a sequel.  Reportedly, the film is peppered with references to the original which are pleasing to those who have seen it.  (Not to mention the fact that most of the original cast make cameos.)

Would you like to see the new ‘Ghostbusters’ take on Zuul, Gozer and Vinz Clortho?

‘Ghostbusters’ won’t be afraid of ghosts on July 15th, 2016. It was directed by Paul Feig and stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Charles Dance, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Chris Hemsworth.
